Time is limited at the Canton Fair. How can you quickly tell whether a supplier is worth a deeper conversation? Here are a few proven methods.
Step 1: Look at the Booth – But Not Just the Size
Booth size tells you something, but not everything.
- Large booth with physical products – Not necessarily the best, but at least shows a certain level of strength.
- Nothing but a business card – Be cautious; could be a middleman.
More importantly: check whether their products are made in‑house or outsourced. Look at welding quality, battery brand markings, and overall product details – these speak for themselves.
Step 2: Ask Sharp Questions
Don’t ask “How is your quality?” – anyone can give a nice answer. Try these instead:
- “Have you ever exported to [XX country]? Do you have the required certifications for that market?”
- “What are the BMS protection parameters of this battery pack?”
- “Which brand of controller do you use? Is it developed in‑house?”
- “What is your typical lead time? How do you handle delays?”
Suppliers who can answer these directly have real export experience. Those who hesitate or give vague answers – be careful.
Step 3: Ask for Factory Videos or Photos
If they claim to be a factory, ask for:
- Real factory videos (production line, warehouse, office)
- Export packaging photos (showing how they pack for export)
- Inspection reports or container loading photos
Manufacturers with genuine export experience can provide these materials immediately.
Step 4: Evaluate Pricing – But Don’t Focus Only on Price
A very low price is a red flag, but a very high price doesn’t guarantee quality either.
The right approach: ask for a complete specification sheet, including all component brands, models, and quantities. Then compare two or three quotes – you’ll quickly see who is inflating prices and who is offering a fair deal.
Step 5: Check After‑Sales Commitment
Ask the after‑sales questions that matter to you:
- “How long does it take to supply spare parts?”
- “Do you have service points in [XX market]?”
- “What is your warranty period? Is the battery covered separately from the vehicle?”
If the after‑sales terms are vague, or they just say “don’t worry, no problem” – proceed with caution.
